Mandarin Chinese Training
Stewart MacPherson,
Professor of Comparative Social Administration,
City University of Hong Kong
I think that for many adults, learning a new language presents a major psychological barrier. Too often language courses are pitched at the goal of eventual perfect fluency, which is unattainable.
What most people want is to be able to communicate effectively. To begin to do that, we must break the psychological barrier. The course does that.
Michael Coleman,
Chief Executive, Inchcape Engineering
"I'm still using the Mandarin. I'm really very pleased with it. Actually, I'm delighted. The people I work with are impressed that I am using it, and they are actively helping me to get to the next stage. I've also been listening to the T.V. in Mandarin - the sports commentaries - and I've been picking up a lot. "
"I learned more in the short space of time of the course than I learned in the previous ten years."
Dr. John Romagna,
Managing Director, QSA-Mortiboys Ltd
"When I completed the course, I had improved a great deal. I had enough information to understand both how the language works, and also to be able to continue developing it on my own. The course was great value for money!
"Today, (several weeks after the course) it's going pretty good. I used it to get around in Beijing last week, and I was able to fend for myself. I can think through now what I want to say, and I'm more coherent. I'm getting better and better each day.
"I'm trying to follow up working on characters. I spent 8 hours working on characters this weekend, and my character recognition is going up radically. I can now understand characters that I don't necessarily know how to pronounce. Actually, I find the characters a real help - they help to make things stick for me. I never thought they would, and was intending to avoid learning them!"
David W. Geiger,
Director, Needle Bearings Operations
Torrington Wuxi Bearings Co. Ltd
" Great base! I love the language. I'm not afraid of it. I want to practice. I believe, now, that I will learn it, well."
Carol Murphy,
Physiotherapist
"Chris, both you and Fengdi were very encouraging, easing us through the frustrating times. To look at what I knew prior to starting the class, and what I know now....it's a lot of new knowledge! I look forward to continuing learning the language, and will be happy to hold a more stimulating conversation with you, IN CHINESE, in the future!"
Rebecca Malik
"I had a blast in this class! I almost forgot I was in a class! Making learning fun is more natural and successful I think. Thanks for all your time, planning and effort in making this fun!"
John Pinfold,

"A fabulous learning experience. I learnt to breathe, again, and not be too hard on myself".
